Having studied and taught Economics/Law I now understand the meaning of ‘Caveat Emptor’ (buyer’s beware) fully. I was shopping online and stumbled upon this last night. My friend gave me a slight push and I just could not resist posting it on the blog. Should be helpful for others who like to shop online.
Queen Comforter Set at Macy’s
So, I am in the market for buying a bed in a bag or comforter set. Where do I look? I look at what Macy’s and Bed Bath & Beyond are selling. I like a nice summery, pastel queen comforter set at Macys.com. I add it to my shopping cart. The registered price of this set is $200 and I am getting a ‘great deal’ for $89 plus tax & shipping. Or so I think. The company name is ‘Nadine’ so I think ‘Oooo sounds like some exotic brand! should be nice and comfortable’

Has your B1, also known as the Visitor Visa to the U.S. been denied ?
It happened to someone very close to me. It happened at a time one was not expecting it at all. I had already made a rough sketch of travel plans and other things to do.Now its all gone for a six. Poof!
Why? Read on for the full story.
A family member wanted to visit us in the U.S. He was studying in college and planning to spend his vacation with us. We filled the online form DS-160, clicked a digital photo, exchanged tons of paperwork and deposited the bank fee. Everything looked good and the documents folder looked complete. So far so good.
B1 Visa Interview
During the brief visa interview the interviewing Consular asked the interviewee if he intended to return to India. The applicant said yes. The applicant had no reason to say no. His parents lived in India. He was studying in India. He was on a break and he just wanted to visit us and travel around! On the surface it looks like a simple case. However, to our utter dismay the visa application was rejected. The grounds of rejection were : ‘You do not have sufficient ties to your country.’ There was no rationalizing. The rest of the conversation was a monologue- let’s just say all reasoning fell on deaf ears!
Tourism & B1/B2 visas
I believe that tourism is very important for boosting the U.S. economy. An increase in the number of tourists to the U.S. will definitely result in expenditure on food, housing, travel, leisure, etc. When a tourist comes to the U.S. he buys food, takes a rental car, visits several places, spends in national and state parks, malls, spas, outdoor activities, theme parks, etc. All this has a positive impact on the economy. Hence more tourists are good for the U.S. economy.
At a micro level, everyone is happy when their family and friends visit them. The joy of having a visitor is quadrupled by the fact that he is travelling from another country. While this is a happy occasion, there are several things to take care of : applying for the visitor visa (B1/B2 visa), filing the paperwork and preparing for the B1 visa interview, buying medical insurance, making travel plans, etc.
These decisions may take a lot of your time and energy. While there is information available on several portals, much it it is fragmented or too difficult too understand.
