Are you planning to apply for the H4 visa ? There is a lot of legwork required. Many folks have bits of information about the visa application process but are clueless on where to start (H4 visa concerns). Identifying the basic steps in the visa application process can make the process far more easier than it looks. I am listing a few links that will definitely give you a better perspective on the application process.
I am applying for the H4 Visa. I do not know where to apply.
The U.S. Embassy in India is located at New Delhi. There are four other Consulates: Kolkatta, Chennai, Hyderabad & Mumbai. You cannot go to any one of these. There is a simple rule that applies in this context. You must choose the Consulate that covers your state of residence. Also you should have lived at this place for the past 6 months. I want to pay the application fee for H4 visa.What is the fee and where should I pay it?
Currently the fee is Rs. 7200. You have to pay the fee in cash or by DD/HDFC Bank cheque favoring “HDFC Bank a/c VFS”.

- Not all HDFC Branches accept the US visa fee.
- Make sure you get the receipt. This is very important for scheduling the date of interview.
I want to apply for the H4 visa. Where should I fill the online application form (DS-160)?

At this point you will have two important reference numbers :
- One, your HDFC fee receipt
- Two, the barcode number that gets generated once you complete the DS-160 form online
I want to schedule a date for the H4 visa interview.
You should go to VFS online appointment system to schedule appointments. If you have to cancel your current appointment, change your addresse listed with VFS or download your appointment letter you can use the same link.
What are the specifications for the photo that the US Embassy requires for my H4 visa?
Most professional photograhers know about the U.S. visa photo requirements. However, they often mistake these to be passport size photos. i’m applying for H4 visa as my husband is staying in US since last 8 months.. and i’m having baby of 2 n half year old..
my passport is having my name as GAYATHRI and
my baby’s passport is having my name(mother’s name) as GAYATRI.. will it be an issue while taking visa interview??

Thank you for the kind words.
Perhaps you should talk to a lawyer. Is your name correctly written on her birth certificate?
This may not be such a big issue but who knows it may create a problem. Please try to get it fixed if possible…:-)

and one more thing is, my in passport the background of my photo is in blue colour..
wat do u think wil it b an issue again??..

Gayatri..make sure the photo for your H4 visa application complies with the guidelines..:-) That is more important in the H4 visa processing.
