Reliance Customer Care in India

The day my brother decided to gift a cellphone to my mom, he was happy. The day he chose Reliance as the Service Provider, he was unhappy. He made a big mistake. Firstly, the NOKIA handset purchased was defective. It was not replaced but repaired. Secondly, when the connection was started with a pre-paid system, it stopped working merely 7 days after operation. Let me tell you how efficient the Customer Care Support is in India.

Day 1- We get an SMS from 52811 on 08-01-2008 22:42:49 which read “Outgoing Calls de-activated”. Day 1- I try to make a call and a feminine voice informs me that to resume service I have to contact Reliance Customer Care. (Please note that no number is mentioned, one is left wondering what number to call.) 08-01-2008 23:30

Day 2- I call Customer Care *333, and am informed that the documentation is incomplete. They are however, not able to provide us with a telephone number of the ‘Reliance Web World’ I was trying to mention nor did they have the address in their directory. (What use is a Customer Service which cannot provide with exact details and always wants the customer to rush to the point of purchase??) One Ms. Muskan is very rude and one Mr. Sudhir is patient but of no help. I am informed that I should go to the nearest Reliance outlet. 09-01-2008

Day 2- I go to the outlet. They redirect me to another outlet. I give up. 09-01-2008 12:14:08 to 13:00 Day 3- We go to the outlet of Reliance (Reliance Web World, B-Road, Sardarpura, Jodhpur, Rajasthan) from where we purchased the cell-phone and a 1 Yr Pre-Paid plan. They inform us that it is a technical error at their end, and that my phone would start in a couple of hours. 10-01-2008

Day 3- I get another SMS which read “Dear Customer, Your request could not be processed. Please contact Customer Service *333. 10-01-2008 21:52:16 (Grrrrrr… how I hate that number where where a bunch of non-supportive operators with outdated databases ask me to go to the outlet in person!!!! and they proudly say that they are a part of the ALL INDIA support network) Day 3 – I call the outlet (remember we went there the day before and I got a number) and each time I call, the operator says he will call me back. Nobody called. My cell is still not working. The number was 3290017.

Reliance is focusing on low cost, but that should not be an end in itself; it should be means to reach targets like happy customers through better service. Maybe Anil Ambani can think of renaming their customer support as Customer Harassment Cell!!! In this era of information and technology, where everything should ideally be just a call or click away, how can Reliance operate by having such a dumb consumer support network??

Update added on June 14, 2008 : There are a lot of people who are reading this post and expressing concerns regarding phone numbers to contact Reliance Customer Care.  I am adding the numbers here (Cannot guarantee quality of service) but these are just for record.  Reliance has to deal with this issue, as any other service company who must deal with a large consumer base.  Instead of having inexperienced people who answer phones to oblige you, Reliance should invest in training and development of all the Customer Care Associates!  This would add value in the long run and reduce the rate of driving consumers away.

    even we too faced the smilar problem with AitTel when we went for vacation last july,allmost all of them are deplorable when it comes to service.

    I`m the satisfied service customer from RIM. I`ve fivr RIM postpaid connections. But now days the service is getting more and more pathetic. My 09371022374 i`ve the downloded the devotional caller tune but its been deactivated automatically so i`m trying to complain it but no go….
    On my no 09324477002 i got the msg that ‘Congrats you have been subscribed to my music station….From 5123400′ i`ve tied to complained about it but no good responce after three caklls i got one executive name reena. Firstly she was very rude. Her opening script was only namashkar. I`ve ask her name. And then she was commanding me like i`m not her customer she is my customer.
    My 09371614662 i`ve hake of problems.
    Who will solve it..

    reliance service is getting worse and relaince are adding customers , they dont think how they will handle the customers.

    i am charged almost 10 times the amount ,
    i use Reliance R World from handset ,
    and i got billed for more than 100 Rs instead of less than 10 Rs i am getting every month.

    Hi,

    This is to bring to the notice that reliance is not clear about his payments.I made the last payment for my reliance post paid after that i get a bill of Rs4000/-. Their collection team keep on tracing my number and other numbers on my cell. Some of the vital information are there in my mobile.Can they do that?. This is not enough they had made my family life hell.Every week we used to receive threatening calls.Some of them says they are from court other police.My family is very afraid. Don’t know what to do.I asked them if i can make a payment of RS1000/- and settle the account.They said “NO” to this .Usally i get Rs1000 or 1500 bill every month.After paying the last bill i disconnet the phone.But it was not disconnected.
    Then i receive the message on my cell that i have a bill due of Rs2500/- , after 2 hours again a get a message of RS3500/- and then RS4000/-.I got totally confused with that.I confirm with my friends and they said sometime fraud billing happen,you need not to be worry about that.They also scolded me for not getting anything in writing for disconnection.I thought everthing was right. Then i start getting these threatening calls from reliance collection team.And my worst worry was that if they come to my house when i am not there.I am also worried about the leakage of certain information like credit card.
    Please help me.

    It looks like I am not the only one to face this problem and there are people in ‘worst case scenarios’ as well. I talked to my lawyer and he said that similar disputes are being put up in the Consumer Courts and that verdicts are being passed in a relatively, short span of time.

    If possible, contact your nearest Web World/Reliance showroom and give a written complaint. My problem was solved when I went personally and put in my request. Luckily for me, the person in charge was very prompt and my service was resumed within 24 hours. But where there are huge bills involved, do not be shy to take legal action.

    What happen to me is disgusting. I am in USA and 3 years back I left India. Today I recd call from Delhi Police that I didn’t pay reliance landline bill and they had filed a case against me and they will cancel my Visa and I need to go to Jail. I immediately transfered around 10,000 Rs to lawer account (real or fake don’t know). I used reliance service when I was in India for 5 years and here is USA I am using reliance service to call India. When I left India my balance was only 1500 Rs and my security deposit was arount 3500 Rs.

    I am cancelling my reliance India call account to AirTel. Ofcourse what happend to me is disgusing.

    I GOT THE PHONE CALL FROM YOUR RELIANCE OFFICE TO CONFIRM THAT WHETHER I HAVE RECEIVED THE RELIANCE CREDIT CARD & HAS GIVEN ME THE NUMBER TO CONTACT WITH THE CUSTOMER CARE ON 28232484. BUT NO ONE IS COMING ON LINE. I HAVE NOT YET GOT THE RELIANCE CREDIT CARD. PLS HELP.

    Same thing happend with me, my number was deactivated in a week and in such a way I am not able to call even the customer care *333 from my phone.

    Its worst ever service….. No use of this type of phone.

    Reliance is a big fraud and cheating its customer. I would not suggest any one to purchase a reliance connection.

    Dear Ridhima
    we bought an invertor from the newly opened RelainceDigital in Hyderabad.they made us pay in advance for the invertor and also for the installation
    they were supossed it install it in 24 hrs,but even after 48 hrs nobody at reliance has a clue as to when it will be installed,they have a number that is busy forever.
    the lesson we have learned is never buy anything from reliance

    My RIM cell is not working from last 2 months but i m getting bill at time .Its really careless of customer care nad i complaint so many times but no response from reliance. Its battery is not working even its charger blasted.

    Helpless to do anything as i m busy these days so best i found is i throw it somewhere

    i would like to say all that plz don’t take reliance net connection .it is so bad and once u will be in trouble some technical fault in net then u will not find a single person from customare care center who can help you .so if u are thinking this option then think 1000 times .

    Another example of RHC (Reliance Harassment Cell)….I have a prepaid relinace connection and availing the service of Rim to Rim free all over India. Suddenly, to my utter surprise I noticed, that I am being charged for all outgoing calls to local and STD Rim to Rim mobiles. I called up CC and the only anser that I got was “they cant help”….Guys think twice before you decide owing a Reliane Connection.

    What a disgusting service. i guess there are end number of assholes attending our calls who have absolutely zero product knowledge and are far far away from customer service skills. I wonder did they ever go to school. They don’t even have basic manners. And what kind of English do they speak I have no clue where they learnt it from. Are they customer care associates or pain in our lives. They are just sitting there with their fat asses and taking salaries home for doing nothing. They just work like a dumb machine which just repeats something. They sound scared and just want to get rid of customers. They even keep you on hold for 1 and a half hours. Is that a joke no its not b’coz i was placed on hold for more than one and a half hour when i called and the floor supervisor never bothered to come back. wow! what a supervisor. Everyone reading this please don’t ever make the mistake of buying a reliance phone. Their services suck big time man.

    unfortunately your only option is to go to a reliance web world/center near you. /i have faced a similar problem and got charged for a stupid ring tone for 3 months.

    I’ve purchased a new reliance prepaid connection from a dealer in mehsana before Diwali and i also submitted required documents on the same day. But my out-going is not activated yet. The dealer said that he has already forwarded documents to the mehsana reliance main branch. So i contacted Mr. Ram (cell #fs) one of the employee of Reliance main branch – mehsana, but he didn’t received my call from last 4 days. So my query is what should i do now. Nobody is answering. where should i contact then???

    i am also facing the same problem like Ridhima.
    i took one reliance phone with lifetime validity card. But one day in the middle of the call my call is disconnected.
    Then immediately i tried to cal to customer care.i got reply like”To receive your service contact customer care.”

    After half an hour i got message like “outgoing calls deactivated.”

    i tried to call customer care lot of times.

    “ATLEAST I AM NOT IN A POSITION TO CALL TO CUSTOMER CARE ALSO TILL NOW”
    i am having one doubt

    IS RELIANCE HAVING ANY CUSTOMER CARE CENTERS IN INDIA?

    IF YES,WHAT HAPPENED TO CUTOMER CARE CENTERS PHONES?
    IF NOTHING HAPPENED TO THOSE THEN DEACTIVATE THOSE PHONES INSTEAD OF CUSTOMERS PHONES.

    Hello people…after a few months of painless service my cellphone is again stuck and I am unable to make long distance calls. It is a real shame and yes, I am unable to get into the customer service net! I will post any updates as soon as I get the service working. This is really bad..no warning..no message..just a sudden service block!

    O my God! Reliance is such a hopeless service, I should’ve read all these comments before purchasing a prepaid connection. There customer care service is just a formality. I’m sick and tired of making them explain my problem which is that im not able to make any outgoing calls but they are such idiots.Don’t even bother purchasing any reliace connection in future.

    I know Devika. My mother’s outgoing calls to U.S. are also blocked. She does not have the patience to go through the ‘Reliance Customer Care’ pain and is happy to make local calls. Such are times of instant connectivity and passive customer care!

    This is simply a blog where I have shared my own experience with Reliance and other people have shared their own accounts. You will have to contact RIM to solve your problem.

    As an update to my post discussed here my Mother’s reliance international outgoing keeps freezing every now and then. My parents are considering switching to Hutch/Vodafone to solve their problems. And best is the support staff at RIM keep insisting that the service is working and that there is nothing wrong from THEIR END!

    can anyone help me to get away from the calls i’m recieving on my prepaid RIM no. the calls come and as soon as i recieve it they will start some songs actually stupid songs. i’m really fed up of these calls. this only problem in RIM make me think many times why i am using this service.this is really very irritating. the calls may come anytime. where should i complain against it?

    Thank you Bipen, Subhash & RIM prepaid customer, you have to call customer support for all these problems. I know its very frustrating but that is the only option.

    How I wish Reliance and other telecom providers work to improve their customer support? It makes life so much easier if you know that the service provider watches your back.

    I do not think it is touch. Just looks like a far cry now. I am very happy with the customer support of giants like Amazon, Dell, AT&T. Perhaps Reliance can use the customer support model of these companies.
