Eklavya ::ho hummmmmm!

Well, before you think that I only write about movies…pause. I HAVE been watching too many of them and do want to share my opinions….so do bear with the movie sentiments!
My roots are in Rajasthan.
The Rajasthani flavor of this movie could not have been done
better. The attire, scenic beauty, the
royalty and loyalty all is just so known to me that I wanted to admire the
whole art of cinema and acting!
The central idea of the movie was very moving. I do agree that it is very easy to question
the past. To judge the acts of
others. Pass a judgment. The movie tried to judge what the historical
icon Eklavya did for his Guru Dronacharya.
However, it defied the past and fed an intelligent climax. The twist that I liked and did not expect was
the intent of Saif Ali Khan. Yet as far
as the justification to the characters is concerned, much more could have been
done. I would have wanted to watch more
of Sharmila Tagore and batter acting from Boman Irani. Jackie Shroff did well. The only person who brought verbal life to
the movie was Sanjay Dutt….
My only and only objection is that the pace of the
story. It was just so slow, that the
only saving grace was cinematic excellence.
The acting was unparalleled. Yet,
one could not feel very sorry for either Eklavya or his son, played by Saif Ali
Khan. Probably a year more into script
writing would have helped in the emotions department!!!!!
However, I am very happy that new ideas are being
experimented and Indian cinema is reaching new dimensions.
Average watch, recommended for home viewing only………J
