Movie Review: Under the Tuscan Sun
February 12th, 2006 | by Digvijay Lamba |I rented the DVD for this movie
Because of it’s recommendation in netflix.com. Given my experience with the past few recommendations I wasn’t expecting anything special. This movie is based on a book my “Frances Mayes” who is herself the main character in the movie. It’s a movie with women in it’s central roles. I am not sure if everyone will like it and it’s not one of those all time greats. But, it IS one of the better movies I have seen, despite the fact that it is technically a ‘chic fic’.
It’s a story about a woman who buys a house on a sudden whim in Tuscany, Italy while recovering from her divorce. It’s about how she builds a new life there with new people in a new culture. Most of the other characters are well portrayed specially the foolish old lady “Katherine” and the young couple.
Worth a watch.
