Angels & Demons: Dan Brown

Great read.

After reading a few of his books you realize a definite pattern to Dan Brown’s writing. A lot of well done research and interesting facts are put together in a gripping thriller with a lot of twists. Angels and Demons is another installment of the same recipe.

In this, somewhat of a prequel to Da Vinci Code (although the stories have no relation) Dan Brown takes you to Rome where the protaginist, our favourite symbologist and a nucleur scientist come together to unravel clues left by the mysterious society called the Illuminati. The adventure takes several sharp twists and turns, each as unexpected as the other, to finally reach a gripping climax.

Overall, it is a gripping story that will keep you interested right through the end. Add to that the usual mixing of facts and fiction and a crash course on church art and history with a smattering of trivia and the book is a must read.

I thought, towards the end there were a few moments where things go so far from fiction as to become fantasy but it’s only a rare scene and does not damage the book.
