These are some of my favourite links and places where you can read books online.
The mother of all such sites is ofcourse The Gutenberg Project . Its possible to download ebooks there of nearly every text legally online.
Classics are the evergreen books easily available online as there are not protected under copyright anymore. Two best places to read classics are pagebypagebooks.com and classicbookshelf.com.
Another good resource is the page with links to Banned Books Here.
Ofcourse, no list of links to book related sites will be complete without a link to rec.arts.books BB. Go there to see how rich, and full of resources that page is.
